There's so much death in real life already. The background was an intricate tapestry of custom, pride and family ties but I can't find anything to vaneerwick with the protagonists, namely Zainudin and Hayati.

It is a good book that portrays representation of Minang culture which is a community from Sumatera Barat west sumateraIndonesia. The Sinking of Van Der Wijck They should put cautionary advisory label on the book. Kaapal was such an integral part of my healing process, just like the real Muluk here in the story.
